School of Marketing and Communication

The School of Marketing and Communication is a truly multidisciplinary community in which the challenges of business and society are viewed from the perspective of the individual, culture, and business. Our research and education focus on three areas: international business, marketing, and communication.

The research topics of the Marketing and Communication academic school reflect the strategic priorities of the University of Vaasa. Digitalisation, sustainability, innovation, co-creation of value, and systemic thinking are present in the school's research work. The research activities are internationally networked, productive, and highly regarded by the scientific community.
The multidisciplinary school brings together the current research topics and diverse approaches of three research groups. The school boldly and openly embraces new research challenges. Strong basic research provides a fertile ground for more applied research.
The school is committed to the UN's sustainable development goals, which is reflected in its research topics. In particular, the promotion of a peaceful society and effective and responsible institutions at all levels are present.
The school conducts socially influential education and research. Researchers work closely with companies and organisations. Regional impact is represented by EPANET professors, who operate in a regional cooperation network and conduct applied research and product development.
The research conducted at the school is visible and audible – it is present on social media, and scientific information is actively brought to the attention of decision-makers and the general public.
The school's research community is organized into three research groups:
