Exchange Studies

Embrace the Nordic spirit

Coming to Vaasa as an exchange student

Our truly international community is located on the beautiful West coast of Finland. We have 6,400 students and 650 employees of closer to 50 different nationalities. Together we focus on sustainable business, energy and society. Every year we welcome more than 200 exchange students from all around the world. International Services guide and assist incoming students, starting from the mandatory orientation week at the beginning of semester until the departure from Vaasa.

Fields of education and language requirement

Exchange students are divided into study fields according to the agreement they study under. We offer the following fields:

  • Administrative Sciences
  • Business Studies
  • Communication Studies
  • Technology

All courses offered to exchange students are taught in English. The recommended proficiency level of English is CEFR B2. To learn more about your host city, we recommend getting to know the basics of the official languages Finnish and Swedish before or during your stay.

Your very own tutor

Life in a new country can be challenging, and ordinary chores, like going to the supermarket or finding friends, are not as easy as at home. No worries; in Vaasa you will not be left alone!

Through our buddy system run by the Student Union, all exchange students are assigned a fellow student tutor with practical matters.
