The application period for the new Bachelor's programme in Business Administration in English at the University of Vaasa starts today, on 13 March. The studies will start in autumn 2025. The three-year programme provides a good basis for an international career. Upon completion of the bachelor's degree, students will have a broad understanding of business economics and will be eligible to continue to the University of Vaasa's master's programmes in business and economics.

The Nordic countries and Europe must take an active role and strenghten our competitiveness, said Jacob Wallenberg, Chairman of the Board of Investor, at the honorary doctorate celebration held in his honour at the University of Vaasa. According to Wallenberg, competitiveness can be supported by investments in research and development, infrastructure, more developed European capital markets, fossil-free energy supplies, accelerating AI adoption, as well as by strengthening collaboration between businesses and universities.

The first DEI4SME Hackathon, held in Vaasa, Finland, in February 2025, was a collaborative event organized by the University of Vaasa and international partners from Austria. The hackathon brought together ten companies from Finland and Austria, nearly 200 students, and around 30 business, education, and sustainability experts to address diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) challenges in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The University of Vaasa has received funding from Business Finland for the FlexiPower research and development project, which focuses on developing and commercialising the "Building as a Battery" (BaaB) solution. The project aims to find solutions that utilise existing building infrastructure as flexible energy sources.
