Would you like to strengthen your expertise or get a taste of university studies? We offer diverse opportunities for studying also for those who are not degree students. Now is a great time to explore and apply for studies starting in Spring 2026! Take advantage of open university courses, separate study rights, or FITech network courses.

Make use of Open University studies

Explore the study offerings of the University of Vaasa’s Open University. Open University studies are available to everyone, regardless of age or educational background. To be able to enroll in the courses you'll need Finnish social security number and online banking codes. Teaching is mainly organised as blended and online learning. Registration for Spring 2026 courses is already open.

Separate study rights – apply by 12 December 2025

If the studies you are looking for are not available through the Open University, check if you can apply for separate study rights. With separate study rights, you can study selected courses. You will participate in the same teaching as degree students, and some courses may have prerequisites. Courses are mainly scheduled during the day, but there are also online courses available for independent study.

In Spring 2026, separate study rights allow you to study, for example, accounting and finance, business law, and industrial engineering. See all available courses – applications for Spring 2026 studies are open until 12 December 2025.

Studying with separate study rights requires a fee. However, recent graduates can apply for alumni study rights, which are free of charge for the academic year following graduation, provided they have joined the alumni register.
