Separate study right
You can apply for separate study rights for certain courses at the University of Vaasa. With separate study rights, you can study subjects such as economics, mathematics, information technology, or industrial engineering and management. The study right can be granted for individual courses or broader study modules, up to a maximum of 35 ECTS credits at a time.
With separate study rights, you will participate in the same teaching as degree students. Teaching is usually held on weekdays during the daytime.
How to apply
- Apply for the right to pursue separate studies using the electronic application form during the application period. The application period for studies in the spring semester 2026 from 10 November to 12 December 2025. You can also apply for the free alumni study right for separate studies using the same application form. The Language Centre Linginno has a continuous application process.
- The tuition fee for the academic year 2025-2026 is €20 per ECTS and it is paid before you start your studies. You get the instructions for payment once your application has been approved.
- For less than 20 credits, the right to study is granted for two semesters, for 20-35 credits the right to study is granted for four semesters.
- The number of students is limited and places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
- By applying for a study right, you agree to comply with timetable and conditions for completing the course.
