The University of Vaasa among the top 18 small universities in the world in the prestigious THE ranking

The University of Vaasa has been confirmed 18th in the Times Higher Education (THE) Small Universities Ranking.

– This ranking result is a great achievement, showcasing that the University of Vaasa is an internationally recognised and valued place for education and research. Being confirmed 18th in the prestigious THE rankings shows that we are progressing in the right direction, and I would like to thank our university community for their continuous work and contribution, says Martin Meyer, vice-rector of international affairs.

The University of Vaasa is ranked 18th among the 81 universities evaluated, and 4th among Nordic universities.

The 2023 THE Small Universities Ranking highlights those universities that deliver outstanding results with a relatively small student body while meeting all the criteria of THE World University Ranking. The average number of students at institutions in the 2023 small universities ranking is 3,317, while the average number of students at an institution in THE’s main global ranking is 25,000. There is one other Finnish university on the list: Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT.
