About the research group
Our research group creates societal impact by advancing research and developing innovative solutions for sustainable international business, while supporting the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. National institutions and cultures significantly influence how sustainable practices are adopted in different countries. Multinational and international SMEs play a key role in addressing sustainability challenges, and digital technologies offer new opportunities to tackle these challenges in global markets. Since sustainability-related challenges are global by nature, solving them requires expertise in international business, international marketing, and international entrepreneurship. Our goal is to produce high-quality scientific knowledge on how to conduct sustainable and profitable international business in an uncertain, digitalized, and institutionally diverse world.

Our research group has published the results of our studies in several top-tier international academic journals, such as the Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of World Business, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, and Global Strategy Journal. Members of our research group actively participate in conferences organized by the Academy of International Business, European International Business Academy, American Marketing Association, and McGill International Entrepreneurship. One of the group’s key events is the Vaasa International Business Conference, held every three years, which was organized for the seventeenth time in August 2023. The group has partners in international universities and companies.
We are continuously looking for talented and motivated individuals interested in the challenges and opportunities of international business, both as doctoral students and as partners. In our doctoral program, we offer close mentorship from experienced and dedicated supervisors.
