PAVEWAY — Cross-Domain Requirement Management
Project information
Project description
PAVEWAY is an ambitious initiative designed to unify complex engineering processes across industries like maritime, power generation, and industrial automation. The project creates a flexible digital environment that supports early risk detection and continuous product improvement, helping companies adapt to new fuels such as hydrogen and ammonia, as well as increasingly complex digital-mechanical systems. At its core, PAVEWAY uses model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and simulation to validate products virtually in the earliest stages of development. This approach reduces costly late-stage changes and improves decision-making by linking technical data—like thermal stress, control logic, or power needs—to real-world product and business outcomes. The project also emphasizes customized simulation tools that let companies test and refine products using real operational data. For example, a vessel/marine engine can be virtually evaluated under different conditions, providing insights long before physical prototypes are built. This same approach applies to ship systems and clean energy modules, ensuring reliability across diverse global regulations. All findings are brought together in a configurable platform that connects big-picture goals, like achieving IMO 2050 targets, with detailed engineering actions. PAVEWAY accelerates sustainable innovation and strengthens Finland’s leadership in exporting advanced, zero-carbon technologies.
