Introduction
Aušrine Šilenskyte (Ausrine Silenskyte) is an Assistant Professor (tenure track, international strategic management) and an Ambassador for Internationalization at the School of Management, University of Vaasa, Finland.
Šilenskyte holds a PhD in the area of international management, is an alumnus of the prestigious Nord-IB program, and her research centers around strategy implementation, advanced technologies (e.g., blockchain, AI, SaaS) in international strategic management, and social sustainability. She is also exploring innovations in business education, particularly related to diversity and other issues falling under social sustainability. Šilenskyte has published in journals, such as Journal of Business Research, Journal of International Management, Multinational Business Review, Critical Perspectives on International Business; edited several special issues and books. Šilenskyte is an Editorial Board member at the Journal of Teaching International Business.
Aušrine served as a Chair and a Vice Chair at the Academy of International Business Teaching and Education Shared Interest Group, and has been elected as an Honorary Board member in this organization. She is also a Founding Governing Board member at the AIB-CIBER Doctoral Academy and continues active service for the Doctoral Academy, including training doctoral candidates in teaching business. At the University of Vaasa, Aušrine also served as a Program Manager (Bachelor’s in International Business) and has led many international projects, conferences, workshops, and other initiatives.
Aušrine teaches various topics related to international (strategic) management to undergraduates, master’s degree learners, professionals in continuous education; she also is actively leading corporate trainings and teaches a doctoral course on teaching innovations. As a mentor and in various train-the-trainer seminars, Aušrine has supported faculty members in adopting digital innovations and ensuring inclusivity in their teaching practices.
Aušrine has received several international awards for her research and as an educator. For example, in 2022 she received Best Reviewer Award, International Management Division at the Academy of Management; 2020 and 2021 she was awarded with the X-Culture Best Instructor Award by X-Culture.org; in 2023 she was the first foreigner to receive University of Vaasa Teaching Act of the Year Award; in 2012 - Best student paper award in 10th Workshop on International Strategy and Cross Cultural Management, organized by EIASM, among others.
Before joining academia, Aušrine worked in managerial positions in Lithuania and Egypt. Throughout her academic career, she has consulted international Finnish firms and engaged in project work aimed at achieving socio-economic sustainability through industry-academia collaborations.
