Professor Marko Järvenpää from the School of Accounting and Finance of the University of Vaasa has been elected as a member of the committee of the IMA Research Foundation.
The fourth international conference SEST2021 on smart energy and technologies will be held on September 6–8, 2021 as a virtual conference. SEST2021, organised by the University of Vaasa, Finland, provides a forum for researchers from academia and professionals from industry, as well as government regulators to discuss and exchange knowledge and best practices about the design and implementation of smart energy systems.
At the University of Vaasa, more than 160 students will start their studies in international master's programmes. Approximately 680 new students will start their studies this autumn in bachelor´s programmes and 140 in master’s programmes held in Finnish.
Starting August, Doctor of Philosophy in Marketing, Jack Tillotson, begins his appointment as assistant professor (tenure track) of consumer and user innovation at the University of Vaasa. Tillotson specialises in food consumption and wellbeing by focusing on novel consumption landscapes and experiences.
Vaasa Conference on International Business will be held on 17-18 August. Jorma Larimo, Professor of International Marketing at the University of Vaasa, is hosting the conference and the doctoral tutorial organised in connection with it for the 16th time.
The University of Vaasa arranged the Catalysing Innovation hybrid event as a prequel to the Wasa Future Festival on the 5th of August 2021. The event was attended by internationally known innovation experts, as well as the university's new Innovations and ecosystems team.
Researcher Jyri Paasonen from the University of Vaasa, and Henriikka Lindfors have studied penal practices of violations and crimes against occupational safety legislation. The research revealed, that the new law has shifted more responsibility to workplaces and they now take occupational safety more seriously. However, only the most severe cases end up in court.
Doctor of Science (Economics and Business Administration), Jouni K. Juntunen has been appointed Associate Professor of Innovation Management (School of Technology and Innovations) at the University of Vaasa. He has started in his new position on June 7th. Juntunen is looking for solutions to the climate crisis through open innovation. Open innovations are created together with the company's external stakeholders.
