The University of Vaasa is looking for a new Rector for the term beginning January 2023. The University Board elects the Rector for a period up to five years. Fourteen people applied for the position by the deadline 1.5.2022.

The University of Vaasa has granted Professor of Economics Panu Kalmi the University of Vaasa Science Communication Award. The award was given in recognition of his contribution to the popularisation and communication of science and his contribution to the societal dialogue. In addition, the University of Vaasa granted honorary mentions for excellent science communication to 34 researchers and teachers from the University of Vaasa who made presentations at the new Vaasa Science Carnival (Vaasan tiedekarnevaalit).
The universities will decide on the reform of the scoring model for certificate-based admission in 2023. The new model will be introduced in 2026.
