Shanghai Ranking: University of Vaasa enters global top 100 in Public Administration

The University of Vaasa has strengthened its position in the prestigious Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) 2026, achieving a place among the world's top 100 universities in Public Administration. Ranked in the 76-100 category globally, the university is the only Finnish university included in the field this year.
Public Administration is a new ranking entry for the University of Vaasa and marks a significant milestone for the university's research profile. The ranking highlights particular strengths in Research Impact and International Collaboration, where the university is placed joint 22nd globally.
The University of Vaasa is also ranked in Business Administration and Management, bringing the total number of ranked subjects to three, compared with two in 2025.
In Business Administration, the university is placed in the 101-150 category globally and ranks among the top three universities in Finland. The university achieved the highest scores among Finnish universities in High-Quality Research, Research Impact and International Collaboration, underlining the international visibility and quality of its research.
The university is also ranked in Management in the 301-400 category globally. In this subject, the University of Vaasa continues to demonstrate strong international engagement, leading Finnish universities in International Collaboration and performing strongly in both High-Quality Research and Research Impact.
The Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS), published annually by Shanghai Ranking, evaluates universities across individual disciplines using objective indicators related to research excellence, impact, faculty performance and international collaboration. Each year, the ranking assesses thousands of subject units from universities around the world.
