Sami Vähämaa
Professor of Accounting and Finance Sami Vähämaa has been elected the chair of the university collegium for the period 2022–2025. Vice-Director of Faculty and Management Services Kaisu Piirainen will be the vice-chair.

– I greatly appreciate the fact that the members of the university collegium elected me unanimously. The collegium has an important role as the voice of the university community and the supervisor of the high quality of university activities. In my role as the chair, I will not only carry out the tasks laid down in the Universities Act but also try to contribute to our objective of being an internationally recognised high-impact research university.

The university collegium is an administrative body that consists of 15 members of the university community. Five of the members represent professors, five are from the teaching and research staff and other personnel, and five are students.

Among other things, the university collegium decides on the number of members on the board and the duration of the term of office of the board and its members, elect the board members who come from outside the university community, confirm the election of other board members, confirm the financial statement and the annual report of the university, and discharge board members and rectors from liability.

The members who represent the staff are selected through elections, and the student union elects the student members. See the full list of the members of the university collegium for the period 2022–2025.
