The daytime programme featured presentations by Ph.D. students, each followed by constructive discussions led by nominated discussants. The tutorial provided an excellent forum for exchanging emerging research ideas and exploring developments in both academic and practical contexts.
The tutorial also included two distinguished keynote speeches. Professor Marleen Willekens (KU Leuven) delivered a keynote focusing on successful academic career as well as scientific and societal impact of research. Her research applies economic theories to auditing and has been published in leading journals such as Journal of Accounting Research, The Accounting Review, and Contemporary Accounting Research. Professor Matthias D. Mahlendorf (Frankfurt School of Finance and Management) spoke about publishing in international journals and current issues in managerial accounting. Ranked among the top 20 researchers globally in managerial accounting publications (BYU Ranking), Professor Mahlendorf has held visiting positions at Harvard Business School, the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and INSEAD.
Accounting Tutorial is organized every 18 months and the event is designed to foster dialogue among researchers and support the development of Ph.D. students. This year’s tutorial once again highlighted its role as a high-level and inspiring meeting place for accounting scholars.
