Marko Järvenpää appointed as the Dean of the School of Accounting and Finance

Doctor of Science Marko Järvenpää has been appointed as Dean of the School of Accounting and Finance at the University of Vaasa. Järvenpää will start in the position on 1 January 2022.

Järvenpää is currently a professor of accounting at the University of Vaasa. He also serves as the vice-dean of the School of Accounting and Finance. Previous positions include professor of accounting and head of the School of Accounting at the Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics. He has also worked at the Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences, the University Consortium in Pori and the Turku School of Economics. In 2002, Järvenpää received his doctorate in accounting from the Turku School of Economics. His term as dean runs until 31 December 2025.

The dean is responsible for the management of the school, its performance, finances and efficiency, and is the supervisor of the school's staff. This includes promoting collaboration among schools and research platforms and also within the school. The dean is responsible for developing and monitoring the quality of the degree programmes.
