Welcome to attend a lecture by Professor Jan Goldman entitled “Intelligence Analysis in the Contemporary World: Problems and Solutions,” which addresses current challenges in intelligence and analytical activities and explores possible solutions. The lecture will take place on Thursday, 28th of May 2026, from 10:00 to 11:30 at the University of Vaasa (Wolffintie 32), Levón Auditorium (A202, Tervahovi). The event can also be attended online. Following the lecture, there will be an opportunity for questions and discussion with the audience.

Dr. Jan Goldman is an internationally recognized expert in intelligence and security ethics and Professor of Intelligence and Security Studies at The Citadel. He has taught at the National Intelligence University, CIA University, and the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Dr. Goldman is the Editor-in-Chief of the highly respected International Journal of Intelligence and CounterIntelligence and the author of several influential works on intelligence, security, and ethics. He is the only intelligence analyst to have been awarded the title of “current and warning intelligence expert” by the Defense Intelligence Agency.

Professor Goldman’s lecture will be followed by the book launch of “The Adaption of Intelligence in Security Policy  –  Chameleons in the Shadows?” (Palgrave Macmillan), edited by Petri Uusikylä, Research Director at the University of Vaasa and Markus Peltola, Senior Defence Specialist and Researcher at the National Defence University. This event will take place on the same day from 13:00 to 15:00 in the Levón Auditorium and will also be available for online participation.

A commentary will be delivered by Carolyn Bull, Director of the RAND Australia research organization, followed by a panel discussion featuring Timo Valtonen (SUPO – Finnish Security and Intelligence Service), the editors of the book, Visiting Professor Rubén Arcos, and other contributing authors. The event will be facilitated by Petri Uusikylä and Markus Peltola.
