Anniversary Celebrations of the university of Vaasa

Welcome to the anniversary celebrations of our university 

This year’s celebration theme is “Mission Possible”.  This describes how our university responds to the global challenges of the future with its research, as described in the final report of the research evaluation, that will be published at the event.

Our new rector Minna Martikainen will guide us to the theme.

This year we are celebrating our 55 year anniversary. The decision to establish a School of Economics and Business Administration in Vaasa was made by the Finnish government on January 27th. This is why 27th of January (or the closest week-day) is now the date for our yearly anniversary Celebrations.
That brings together students, staff and all friends and stakeholders of the university come together for Anniversary Celebrations in the afternoon of January 27th.

The program traditionally consists of music speeches, greetings, and presentations of new professors at the university, awards to best teachers and researchers. The event is usually held in auditorium Levón and nowadays you can also follow a live stream from the event.
