Checklist for Enrollees
We have compiled a checklist for Open University students regarding course enrollment. Detailed enrollment instructions are available on our website.
- Before enrolling, please review our course offerings and check the specific completion and scheduling details of each course. Online teaching is often scheduled, meaning each course has a defined completion period (e.g., exams, assignment deadlines). Some courses may require mandatory attendance in online lectures (especially language and communication studies).
- Each course has a limited number of places (including online courses), and places are filled in the order of registration.
- Enrollment in our courses is binding – you can find more information in our payment and cancellation terms. Please note that in university studies, 1 ECTS credit corresponds to approximately 27 hours of work (including lectures, independent study, information retrieval, group work, writing, exams, etc.). When planning your studies, please take this into account (actual workload may vary by individual and course).
- Once your enrollment is accepted, you will receive a confirmation email with a payment link for the course fee. The payment link is valid for 24 hours.
- You will receive a course email 1–3 working days before the announced start date of the course. This email includes detailed information about completing the course, a link to the Moodle platform, the course key, and instructions for activating your user account and using library services. Course emails are sent as courses begin, so you will not receive all course emails at once.
- It is important to read the course email carefully – if you have not received the course email by the announced start date, first check your spam folder. If the email is not there either, please contact the Open University student services immediately at avoinyo@uwasa.fi.
- Once the course is completed, the result will be recorded in the Peppi student information system. You can download a digitally verified transcript of records from your Peppi student desktop or request one from the Open University student services. Certificates are not automatically sent to students after course completion.
