Digitalisation Academy: Piloting and developing the Academy and creating a nationwide model (DA-PITO)

Finland's national goal is to be a competitive developer, fast adopter, and the best in the application of new technology and innovations. This will require ability to cross-borders, being flexible and finding new forms of cooperation, for example between universities and industry. In addition, we need to have the ability to strengthen and produce skills at a fast pace, the ability to make talented people committed to the area, and the readiness to support regional and multilateral innovation ecosystems that benefit everyone.

The Digitalisation Academy is a new model tailored to the acute need for talent, aiming to open up new solutions to the talent shortage of the digitalization experts. The Digitalisation Academy supports the attractiveness and success of the energy cluster of the Vaasa region locally and internationally. The aim is to attract more experts from abroad to work and study in Vaasa and to retain them in the region.

The DA-PITO project analyzes the operation of the Digitalisation Academy's pilot season (2018–2020) and creates a model for the development of the Academy and its conception and scaling. In the spirit of the Talent Boost program, the project also explores how Digitalisation Academy can support the placement of foreign experts who have received training in Finland in the Finnish labour market. The project is carried out by the InnoLab and funded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.
