Project description

The Capacitor+ project will establish an energy business incubator in the Ostrobothnia region. The key added value of this project is that although the region is full of entrepreneurial spirit and small businesses and has an energy cluster of very large players in the energy sector, there is a lack of medium and high-growth companies. The Capacitor+ incubator therefore aims to engage existing and new companies and grow them from small to medium sized, giving them the tools to compete with the larger energy companies in the region over time. This will help to innovate and innovate the energy ecosystem, as well as revitalise the start-up ecosystem. The start-up ecosystem currently has many horizontal (i.e. generic) programmes, and Capacitor+ is one of the first "vertical" incubators targeted at a specific sector. In cooperation with the University of Vaasa, Merinova, local businesses, SMEs and public ecosystem actors, Capacitor+ is intended to act as a catalyst for new projects and a holding and attraction factor for knowledge in the region and beyond.

In concrete terms, three playbooks will be developed to provide solutions and guidance for operators and businesses looking to grow or innovate. The project will also set up and maintain a network of experts, mentors and companies and a pool of experts to improve the attractiveness of the region. The project will also provide templates and contracting platforms to speed up the spinoff, start-up and growth processes.
