Introduction
Reza Naghash is a Project Researcher at the School of Technology and Innovations, University of Vaasa. He is a member of the Smart Electric Systems research group and is working at FREESI-lab. Reza has a solid background in power electronics and control systems, and has hands-on experience in power converters prototyping and implementing advanced digital control systems by using MCUs, DSPs, and FPGAs, with a strong focus on microgrids and drives applications.
Currently, he is working on an EU funded project in the marine industry, in which he is developing control systems and performing power hardware-in-the-loop testing of shipboard microgrids considering hybrid energy storage systems (HESS).
In his PhD, Reza is working on control and modulation schemes of modular multi-level converters with grid-forming capabilities for shipboards with HESS in shore power applications.
