Aki Lehtivuori
Postdoctoral Researcher

I conduct research as part of the Human Resource Management research group.
My work focuses on motivation and the contextual factors (e.g., rewards, performance pressure) and psychological factors (e.g., basic psychological needs) that influence it. Currently, I am particularly interested in examining the interaction between external incentives and intrinsic motivation, the manifestations of intrinsic motivation and the underlying psychological mechanisms, as well as motivation driven by internalized pressure. In my motivation research, I primarily draw on self-determination theory.
A second line of my research concerns the effects of performance measurement and performance management, particularly in academic work. Topics of interest include, for example, the impact of performance measurement on researchers' motivation, attitudes, and work outcomes.
My third and most recent line of research focuses on illegitimate tasks and their effects at the individual level.
I am interested in supervising doctoral dissertations, especially on the themes mentioned above.
