The University of Vaasa offers Supporting Immigrants in Higher Education in Finland (SIMHE) guidance service for immigrants. The service provides support in identifying competence, advising on higher education studies and career guidance. SIMHE guidance is for immigrants who have already completed higher education or are considering it. The service is free of charge and open to everyone. It is suitable also for people fleeing the war in Ukraine to Finland.

This transnational Massive Open Online Course on Global Studies aims at increasing students’ knowledge on global issues from an interdisciplinary perspective. A year and a half after EUNICE project started in the mist of the pandemic, several academics and officers were able to work in person for the first time in a workshop hosted by the University of Cantabria (Spain).

A visionary academic leader is sought as the new rector of the University of Vaasa to promote the competitiveness and impact of the university. The contract of employment will begin at the beginning of 2023. According to the Universities Act, the board of the university elects a rector for a maximum term of five years.

The first policy brief of the University of Vaasa's ELVIS project discusses about the concept of inclusive innovation policy and presents findings from the new comparative analysis. It also makes recommendations for developing inclusive innovation policy in Finland.

The Ministry of Education and Culture recommends that Finnish higher education institutions refrain from all cooperation with Russian and Belarusian partner organisations in higher education and science. Following the policies, the University of Vaasa will not initiate new projects and suspends existing cooperation between organisations for the time being.
