In March 2020, COVID-19 emptied many workplaces and meeting places in Finland and around the world. The pandemic caused a massive increase in remote work, as workers were content to continue working from home, tapping away at their laptops on the sofa or at the kitchen table. The new situation and the dispersion of work communities required a new style of management.

According to Finnish law, people are equal when applying for a job and in the workplace. While the law says one thing, everyday life says another. The CV of a jobseeker with a foreign-sounding name may never be read up to the point describing competence and experience. Mothers of young children may worry about the employer’s prejudices, and those over 50 – or under 30 – wonder how to once again prove that age is just a number.

According to a police release, a deceased person, who is believed to be a student who disappeared from an event organised by Warrantti between Wednesday and Thursday night, has been found in the water on Saturday 11 November afternoon. We are deeply saddened by the news and express our condolences to the families, loved ones, fellow students and personnel.

Suman Sapkota from Nepal and Reshma Dsouza from India arrived in Seinäjoki, Finland to study and deepen their expertise in project management. They are among the 30 students who have started studying in the master’s programme in strategic project management. This is the first time University of Vaasa is offering this programme in Seinäjoki, a city near Vaasa.
