The University of Vaasa, the University of Oulu, the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, and Wärtsilä Finland Oy have agreed to collaborate on the establishment of a joint energy laboratory for industry and research institutions. The laboratory, located at the University of Vaasa, promotes the energy transition by developing future low-emission engines.

According to a doctoral dissertation by Tania Biswas, strong organisational support and favourable working conditions improve their well-being at work, leading to improved job outcomes and reduced turnover. However, high-risk environments and conflicts between work and personal life can reduce well-being, leading to poor performance and an increased desire to quit.

The Flexible Clean Propulsion Technologies (Flex-CPT) project consortium, led by the University of Vaasa, aims to develop innovative, clean, and flexible solutions for maritime transport and off-road machinery. The goal is to reduce dependency on single fuel types, develop flexible hardware design, smart combustion control, efficient thermal management, and adaptive emission and hybrid energy management. These solutions will make it possible to use zero- and low-carbon fuels in the best way, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 100%.
