University of Vaasa receives €2.5 million for strategic research profiling – recruitment of an international top expert strengthens research on sustainable finance and business

The Research Council of Finland has granted the University of Vaasa €2.5 million for strategic research profiling. The funding enables the recruitment of a high-level international researcher and supports the continuation and strengthening of research in the areas of sustainable finance and business. The main objective of the research initiative is to accelerate the energy transition and promote a sustainable and resilient economy.
With this funding, the University of Vaasa will recruit an internationally recognised professor to build a multidisciplinary research group that works closely with industry and society. The research focuses on how financial markets, investment flows, and business models can accelerate the green transition and support a sustainable economy. The energy transition requires significant reallocation of investments as well as new green finance practices, taking into account the rapid and substantial development of digitalisation.
