University of Vaasa receives €2.5 million for strategic research profiling – recruitment of an international top expert strengthens research on sustainable finance and business
With this funding, the University of Vaasa will recruit an internationally recognised professor to build a multidisciplinary research group that works closely with industry and society. The research focuses on how financial markets, investment flows, and business models can accelerate the green transition and support a sustainable economy. The energy transition requires significant reallocation of investments as well as new green finance practices, taking into account the rapid and substantial development of digitalisation.
– I am very pleased with the funding granted by the Research Council of Finland, as investing in research is an investment in the future. This supports the University of Vaasa’s role as a builder of a sustainable future. Energy transition and sustainable finance are themes through which we develop solutions to support investments, competitiveness, and decision-making both nationally and at the EU level. Our aim is to accelerate the green transition and ensure that society and the economy can withstand future crises, says Rector Minna Martikainen.
The Research Council of Finland’s profiling funding for universities aims to support and develop the strategic profiling of Finnish universities. This round of funding focuses on enabling the recruitment of high-level international researchers to Finnish universities.
