Image
To thrive in Vaasa, it is helpful to have basic Finnish skills. Finnish is one of Finland’s official languages and is spoken by over 6 million people worldwide.
We invite you to join our introductory course, Finnish Online. Make the most of your summer and learn the basics of Finnish before arriving in Vaasa. The course also introduces everyday life and culture in Finland.

The course runs from late May to late August and is taught fully online. Most work is self-study with
related Zoom sessions. Teachers are available throughout the course to guide and support you. In late August, an in-person get-together will be arranged in Vaasa.

At the end of the course, you will complete an online written exam. Passing it is equivalent to Finnish 1 at the University of Vaasa. You will earn 2 ECTS and can continue to Finnish 2. The course is designed
especially for newcomers to Vaasa.
