Organised for the first time in 2022, the University of Vaasa’s International Summer School is a good example of the extensive collaboration the university has both internationally and locally. This year, it featured 14 guest lecturers from universities in Europe and the USA, and from companies in Finland and the Nordics.

By combining theory and practice, and offering a multicultural, business-oriented atmosphere, the summer school is a unique opportunity for students to gain entrepreneurial skills in an international context. During the three-week intensive programme, they learned, for example, how to create new business ideas, how to evaluate and pitch them, and how to develop business plans.

This year, the first week of the summer school was organised as an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), allowing students to get to know the topic and each other online before their actual physical visit to Vaasa, and to continue their teamwork in a hybrid mode after the on-site week, providing a flexible mobility opportunity. During their on-site visit to Vaasa, the students had also extra-curricular activities where they got to explore the unique sea-side city and its surrondings.
