The IIA recognises and supports universities and higher education institutions that promote internal audit awareness and training in their curricula. To qualify for this recognition, the IIA has required high quality teaching and AACSB accreditation.
– For us, admission to the programme is recognition of a high standard of internal audit education. It gives us an excellent opportunity to further develop our education through collaboration and the programme materials, which will benefit our students in their studies and in their professional lives, says Marko Järvenpää, Dean of the Academic Unit of Accounting and Finance.
The Audit Academic Alliance programme has been established to recognise the commitment and efforts that universities make to prepare their students for a career in internal audit. Participating universities play an important role in equipping future professionals with the knowledge, skills and ethical foundation needed to advance the internal audit profession and its future.
– We have a long history of conducting research on internal control and internal audit, and of bringing the lessons learned to students. It feels great to have our long-term work rewarded with international recognition, says Annukka Jokipii, Professor of Accounting.
The recognition enables access to high-quality licensed teaching materials offered by the umbrella organisation, scholarship applications and also promotes students' opportunities to develop as internal auditors in the future.
