University Chaplain

The Lutheran Church in Vaasa is cooperating with the universities, and wants to support human dignity, equality, justice, environmental liability, and love in the education and society.

The university chaplain provides support for university students and staff on campus. When life is tough or you otherwise need someone to talk to, do not hesitate to contact her – regardless of your religious or spiritual background.

Meetings on the Palosaari campus

Are you in a need of conversation?

You’re welcome to talk with the university chaplain in various life situations, such as:

  • in joys and sorrows of the studies and work
  • when facing challenges in relationships
  • when struggling with wellbeing or feeling close to burnout
  • in times of grief or crisis
  • when searching something new for your life
  • when reflecting on life’s big questions or spiritual matters.

The University Chaplain Marja-Riitta Ylikangas-Annola is working for the students and staff of the University of Vaasa and Vaasa University of Applied Sciences.

The university chaplain will be available:

  • On Tuesdays 13.00–15.00 in the room B115 in Tervahovi building
  • On Wednesdays 13.00–15.00 in WA1128 at VAMK (Wolffintie 30)

You can also schedule a confidential discussion on campus, at the church premises or elsewhere. You can also arrange a meeting with the chaplain via Zoom or Teams.
