Phuong Tracy Dang is a Doctoral Student at the Strategic Business Development (SBD) research group at the School of Management of the University of Vaasa, Finland. Her previous research activities have adopted the legitimacy-as-a-perception perspective to study individual perceptions of social actors. Her recent works have focused on perceptions of users in the adoption of debatable technological applications, specifically cryptocurrency, in the context of a developing country. Phuong has also conducted research in migrant entrepreneurship, exploring behaviors of migrant entrepreneurs to turn their disadvantages into advantages in their host countries, thus legitimizing their positions in an unfamiliar environment. In her studies, Phuong has adopted legitimacy lens from the sociology-based perspective and primarily conducted qualitative research using ground content analysis (i.e., a type of textual analysis) and Gioia’s methodology to examine the perceptions of individual social actors. Phuong has had one book chapter that is accepted and expected to be published in December 2026, one accepted and presented paper to the European Academy of Management (EURAM) 2026 Conference, and one single-authored master’s thesis that earned the highest grade (VG/Pass with Distinction). Besides, Phuong has served as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Organizational Change Management (JOCM) (ABS2) from July 2025.
