Tade Oyewunmi LL.D, is an Associate Professor (Tenure Track) at the University of Vaasa, School of Management (Public Law) with teaching and research interests in energy law and policy, international law, and international business transactions. His scholarly works examine the legal and policy issues governing the use of energy resources, natural gas and electricity markets, and the development of clean energy technologies, including hydrogen, nuclear, wind energy, carbon capture, utilisation, and storage projects. He is the author of over 60 international peer-reviewed articles, nine book chapters, and two books, including ‘Regulating Gas Supply to Power Markets' (Wolters Kluwer International, 2018) and served as the leading co-editor of the handbook on ‘Decarbonisation and the Energy Industry' (Bloomsbury, 2020).
Professor Tade has held several academic positions in the US, EU, and internationally, and serves as an Associate Editor for the OGEL Energy Law Journal, among other scholarly roles. Before joining academia, he practised as a Senior Counsel in the energy and project finance group of a law firm based in Lagos, Nigeria. His professional affiliations and memberships include the Nigerian Bar Association, the Association of International Energy Negotiators (AIEN), the Institute for Energy Law at the Center for American and International Law, and the Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law (formerly Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation). He obtained his Bachelor of Laws at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria (2004), Master of Laws at the University of Aberdeen, UK (2011) and Doctor of Laws at the University of Eastern Finland, Joensuu (2017).
