Introduction
Dr. Tade Oyewunmi specialises in the areas of energy law and policy, and international law relating to energy and natural resources. As a member of the Public Law, Public Policy and Governance group, his research interests include (1) legal and policy frameworks governing the production and use of energy resources, (2) the regulation of natural gas and electricity markets, and (3) the development of clean energy technologies, such as hydrogen, wind energy, carbon capture, utilisation, and energy storage systems. He has held several academic positions in the US, and internationally, and serves as an Associate Editor for the OGEL Energy Law Journal, among other scholarly roles.
Before joining academia, he was a Senior Counsel practising international business law, energy and project finance in Lagos, Nigeria. His professional affiliations and memberships include the Nigerian Bar Association, the Association of International Energy Negotiators (AIEN), the Institute for Energy Law at the Center for American and International Law, and the Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law (formerly Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation). He obtained his Bachelor of Laws at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, in 2004, Master of Laws at the University of Aberdeen, UK, in 2011, and Doctor of Laws at the University of Eastern Finland in 2017.
