The University of Vaasa has been ranked in two global rankings during the past few weeks; The Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject. In addition, several University of Vaasa researchers were included in the Stanford University list of World’s top 2% of scientists.

He was hired directly from university to work in Brussels. In honour of its 85th anniversary, the Gustaf Svanljung Endowment Fund has donated €70,000 to the University of Vaasa for the development of research infrastructure. With this donation, the university will expand its engine laboratory in 2024–2025 to incorporate hydrogen utilisation and energy storage. This way, the university will continue its long-term investment in energy research and sustainable energy solutions.

An existing expat community can be a valuable resource for arriving international students. This autumn, a group of Bangladeshi people living in Vaasa wanted to create an event to welcome new Bangladeshi master's students who had just arrived in Vaasa. Their event brought together new talents with fellow expats, creating a much-needed possibility to network and learn from peer experiences.

The national career monitoring survey shows that graduates from University of Vaasa are well employed. As many as 97 % of the respondents were employed, self-employed or freelancers at the time of the survey. 33 % are working in Ostrobothnia region.
