Professor Emerita of Human Resource Management Riitta Viitala (University of Vaasa), University Lecturer Kirsi Lehto (University of Vaasa), and Postdoctoral Researcher Jenni Kantola (University of Jyväskylä), have received an Outstanding Paper Award from the international publisher Emerald. The recognition was granted for their research article on Finnish municipal leaders' perceptions of strategic human resource management.

Finnish higher education institutions are jointly responding to the declined language proficiency of students through shared online studies that are available at 25 institutions. The joint language studies sparked record levels of interest among students in the autumn of 2024 – languages of particular interest were Spanish, Japanese and Korean. During spring 2025, the offering will expand to span 13 languages.
