The University of Vaasa is a partner of the annual EnergyWeek, which will be held in Vaasa City Hall from 11 to 14 March 2024. The University will be visible at EnergyWeek in many different forums, either hosting or presenting at various seminars and events.  The University will also have its own exhibition stand. DigiBiogasHubs, a new research project by the University of Vaasa, Centria University of Applied Sciences, and Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences, aims to bring together biogas operators in the Ostrobothnian regions through a new digital platform. The platform will help to promote the development of biogas hubs and clusters and the biogas market.

Each year, hundreds of international experts and students arrive in the Vaasa region, and very often they bring along their family members. It has become apparent that the well-being and employment of their spouses play a big part in convincing the newly arrived talents to stay in the region. To support their employability, the university piloted a career programme for spouses in strong collaboration with companies in the region.

Arto Ojala, Professor of International Business, has been appointed as a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Kyoto University. He will begin his appointment in February, when he will travel to Japan to teach a new course. The appointment follows Professor Ojala's long-standing research and teaching collaboration with Kyoto University.

Continuous learning is talked about a lot nowadays, and it's not just a passing trend. It is both enriching and sometimes essential to be able to enhance one's skills in line with changes or even switch to an entirely new field. The joy of learning doesn't have to end with one's career. At the University of Vaasa, for instance, you can find 79-year-old Pentti Tikkanen attending management lectures alongside his twenty-something classmates. And Mr. Tikkanen has no intention of settling for a master's degree – he has his sights set on a dissertation and the title of doctor.
