Graduate School

The Graduate School of the University of Vaasa organises general and introductory courses for all doctoral students. Graduate School ensures that all doctoral students have the opportunity to pursue high-quality doctoral studies.

University of Vaasa Doctoral programme is coordinated by the Graduate School. The fields of the programme are Business Studies, Social Sciences and Technical Sciences. The doctoral programme and research groups prepare students for high-level independent research work. Our nationally and internationally networked research groups conduct research projects and provide personal supervision for doctoral students who are expected to graduate in four years.

The head of the Graduate School is Vice-rector Mika Grundström.

Graduate School activities

The Graduate School of the University of Vaasa develops the processes and coordinates doctoral education and from the application procedure to the award of a doctoral degree. The Graduate School is responsible for the quality of the processes and activities and is thus a key institution in the university's quality system. The main tasks of the Graduate School are:

  • development, coordination and the quality control of doctoral education
  • providing general scientific and methodological studies
