Registration and Fees

All doctoral graduates at the University of Vaasa who have not participated in a previous Ceremonial Conferment are eligible to participate as promovendi. New PhDs graduating in July 2024 still have time to register.

Promovendi usually attend the graduation with an accompanying person. The companion will take part in all three days of the ceremony. It is also possible to participate without a accompanying person.

You can choose between two participation packages

Promovendi, full participation
the participation fee for a doctoral candidate is 295 eur and 220 eur for accompanying person.  
Participation includes:

  • Voluntary dance rehearsal for the academic dances
  • Rehearsal of the Conferment Ceremony
  • Sword-Whetting Ceremony and Dinner
  • Conferment Ceremony
  • Academic Procession
  • Conferment Service OR Secular Event
  • Gala Dinner and Conferment Ball
  • Excursion to the seaside
  • Conferment Book and the Conferment Ceremony Book to be published after the ceremonies

Promovendi, partial participation
the participation fee for a doctoral candidate is 180 eur and 120 eur for accompanying person.  
Participation includes:

  • Rehearsal of the Conferment Ceremony
  • Sword-Whetting Ceremony and Dinner
  • Conferment Ceremony
  • Academic Procession
  • Conferment Service OR Secular Event
  • Conferment Book and the Conferment Ceremony Book to be published after the ceremonies

Participation in the Act of Conferment, Conferment Service/Secular Event, and Conferment Ball is free of charge, the participation fee is determined by the additional program. 

When registering, personal information is also filled out for the Conferment book, and the participation of the accompanying person is indicated. NOTE! If your accompanying person is a doctor who also will be conferred at the Ceremony, both of you must fill out your own registration form.

Registration is binding, and paid at registration. Register by June 14th, 2024.

Cancellation policy

Notifications, amendments and cancellations must be made in writing (email) to aboaevents@certia.fi

Cancellation policy: Registration must be canceled by July 31, 2024, at which point the participation fee will be refunded minus a 50 euro cancellation fee. After this date, participation fees will not be refunded.
