What did you study at the University of Vaasa?

I studied marketing as my major and industrial management as my minor at the University of Vaasa. I started my studies in 2018 and graduated in 2023.

What do you remember fondly about your study years?

You could write an epic the size of the Kalevala about Vaasa and my student years. Honestly the student days were the best days of my life. We often talked with friends about the “Vaasa bubble” – inside which the rest of the world seemed to disappear.

I remember the inspiring courses, legendary student events – from the grandeur of annual celebrations to excursions abroad and sailing trips to Croatia and Greece. The icing on the cake was the new friends and networks that were formed from the very first days and will surely last a lifetime.

Your career: what are you doing at the moment?

I work at SAP in the role of Solution Sales Executive. In my job I focus on helping customers leverage SAP’s solution portfolio to develop and streamline their business.

What is your work like?

My work is intense and varied – no two days are the same. I get to meet a wide range of companies both in Finland and the Baltics, and together with customers, look for ways to develop their business using SAP’s solutions. The work is challenging but extremely rewarding.

What’s the best part of your job? And the worst?

The best part is the people – both customers and colleagues – as well as the successes and shared wins. It’s great to see the results of the work concretely in the customer’s success.

Naturally, the worst part is losing a customer case to a competitor. Sales in many ways resembles top-level sports: only wins are rewarded and coming in second stings. However, every challenge teaches and moves you forward.

Your most important insight at university?

Be brave and take on new challenges. Don’t be afraid to fail – you often learn the most from failures.

What else would you like to share?

I wish all students unforgettable moments in Vaasa – make the most of them! Student life is called the most fun phase of life for a reason. Enjoy the endless nights and friends but also remember to study – it’s worth it too.
