Research
Widlund’s research focuses on constitutional law, and his research interests revolve around the issues of rule of law, democracy, basic and human rights, national security, and strategic intelligence. Widlund approaches his research mainly from a theoretical and philosophical perspective, but many of his research interests are directly related to concrete and significant societal questions and challenges. Methodologically, Widlund specialises in theoretical legal dogmatics, legal theory, and legal philosophy. Especially in the field of national security law Widlund actively takes part in international cooperation through his academic networks.
Teaching
Widlund has taken part in teaching duties in public law since 2019, and he has teaching experience from a variety of university courses. His teaching duties focus on constitutional law and basic and human rights. Currently, he is teaching on courses Basic and Human Rights, Advanced Studies in Administrative and Constitutional Law (starting in autumn 2026), and European Public Law. Widlund has experience in supervising Bachelor’s Theses from 2021 onward, and Master’s Theses from 2025 onward.
