Yrityskylä (“business village” in English) is a schoolchildren’s society, a miniature city where students work in their own profession and earn money for the work they perform during the day. The money can be used for shopping in the stores of Yrityskylä and taking care of finances in a bank. This allows the student to act as a responsible consumer and citizen as part of Finnish society. The Yrityskylä learning environment for sixth-graders reaches over 75% of Finland’s sixth-graders.

The University of Vaasa will have its own business space in Yrityskylä where sixth-graders will come to work as rectors, researchers, professors, communications specialists and career counsellors. The University will also be taking over the Campus conference room of Vaasa's Yrityskylä. In addition to societal interaction, the University's goal is to increase the University of Vaasa's visibility and attractiveness as an employer and educational provider.
