The Big Heart award to university lecturer Sirpa Heino

Friendly and equal attitude towards students and how she encounters each student as an individual and takes their needs into account were some of the positives leading for her selection. Also, Heino is always on the students’ side, which has become apparent in both face-to-face and distance learning.

– My warmest thanks to all my colleagues at the University of Vaasa. I truly appreciate a recognition like this. Especially in times like these. I'm also sending a huge virtual hug to all the students at the University of Vaasa, all the former students I have met in my Swedish classes, and of course all the present ones. You rock.

The Big Heart award may be given to a person or a group that has promoted equality in the university community. Any member of the university community may nominate a member of the university community or a person or group from outside the community whose activities are closely tied to the University of Vaasa as recipient of the award.
