Welcome to the English Book Club

Linginno (UVA Language Centre) is organising a monthly book club in English from January 2023. The objective of each session is to trigger cross-cultural discussions and debates around a book, and ultimately bring together our Finnish/Swedish-speaking university community and the international community (students and staff).

Key information

Book Club Moodle page: https://moodle.uwasa.fi/course/view.php?id=7883

First session: cabin life and nature

I had no idea that reading it would lead me to a cabin. It's dangerous to open a book.

― Sylvain Tesson

Book studied:  The Consolations of the Forest: Alone in a Cabin on the Siberian Taiga by the French explorer and writer Sylvain Tesson

Organiser: Nicolas Devilez (nicolas.devilez@uwasa.fi)

Who? Staff and students from UVA, VAMK and NOVIA (maximum 25 participants)

What? A friendly and informal cross-cultural talk about our relationship with nature and solitude, the importance of taking time for yourself and slowing down, simplicity and so many other inspiring themes.
