Visiting Professor Nikos Hatziargyriou will give a public lecture at the Wolff Auditorium of the University of Vaasa on Wednesday 28 September from 13-14. This is a hybrid lecture, which can also be followed remotely.

Hatziargyriou will lecture on "The Future Resilient Energy Systems - Role of Microgrids and Energy Communities".

- Power system resilience is defined as the ability of power grids to anticipate, withstand, adapt and recover from high-impact low-probability events. Microgrids can effectively enhance resilience for both transmission and distribution systems, due to their ability to operate in a controlled, coordinated way, when connected to the main power grid and in islanded mode, says Visiting Professor Hatziargyriou.

The lecture will be held in English. It is aimed at anyone interested in the subject and is free of charge.

Visiting Professor Nikos Hatziargyriou is a Professor Emeritus at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He has also been a member of the Advisory Group of the University's VEBIC research platform.
