Korvaavana kurssina AUTO3090 Kemometria
järjestämme syksyllä 2010 Kemometrian kurssin (7.5 ECTS pistettä) yhteistyössä
Uumajan yliopiston ja SLU-yliopiston sekä Novian kanssa. Kurssi pidetään 4 intervallina,

We are arranging a course of Chemometrics (7 ECTS points) in cooperation with
UmU SLU and Novia. The course is held as 4 interval, the first of which is
11-12 October 2010. A short course handout can be find in the above web address.
Also this web page is tried to be updated accordingly.
The course is suitable for everyone interested in measurement technology.
Obs! timetable for the rest of the course is decided during the first lecture period.

Just a short message from Paul:
I realize that the blueberries homework is not very easy, so I can extend the deadline on that one.
The first week of december is fine. I will go through the blueberries example again in SOLO during block 2.

To the participants in Chemometrics course,
Thank you all for participating in the first block of the course.
1. Course material presented during block 1 can be found on
http://hemsidor.novia.fi/lilt (now also my powerpoint presentation on
PCA)
2. For the next block we will ask Eigenvector (www.eigenvector.com) for
trial licences on their software PLS_Toolbox Solo. So it is very
important for you that did NOT participate in block one to email me asp
if you also would like to get a copy of this software for block 2.
Otherwise only those that participated in block 1 will get a licence.
3. Paul gave you three home assignments and your answers should be sent
by email to paul.geladi@btk.slu.se by the first week of November. The
assignments can be found in the folder above.
4. Block 2 will be held 1- 2nd of November at Vaasan yliopisto and
block 3 on the 13-14th of December at Novia. Block 2 will be on
classification, more with PCA (using the PLS_Toolbox Solo software) and
a practical measurement with NIR instruments. Even more details about
these blocks will be sent to you later.

Dear participant,
Thank you for your registration to the Field-NIRce course in
Chemometrics.
The first block will be held at Novia University of Applied Sciences.
The address is Wolffskavägen / Wolffintie 33, Vaasa and the lecture room
(R408) is located on the fourth floor of this red brick building.
The first block is from Monday the 11th of October 9.00-15.30 to
Tuesday 12th of October 9.00-15.30. It is preliminary decided that block
2 will be held on 1-2nd of November at Vaasan yliopisto, but this will
be further discussed when we meet.
We hope that all participants could bring a personal laptop and
pre-install the freeware software Octave which can be downloaded from
http://www.gnu.org/software/octave/
Octave is a Matlab clone and if you already have Matlab installed, it
is not necessary to further install Octave.

Kemometria on tiede, joka soveltaa tilastomatematiikkaa kemiallisten pitoisuuksien yms
laskentaan. Se on siis sukua sekä kemialle että tilastotieteelle. Laskennallisilla
menetelmillä eli tietotekniikalla on siten keskeinen sija kemometriassa.
Vaasan yliopiston kemometrian kurssilla perehdytään erityisesti lähi-infrapunaspektrien
käyttöön erilaisten kemiallisten aineiden pitoisuuksien yms mittaamisessa.
Ajankohtaista kemometriaa (syksy 2010):
Alustavien tietojen mukaan lentomatkustajien nestekielto poistuu parin vuoden sisällä.
Tämän taustalla lienee laite- ja menetelmäkehitys, jossa lähi-infrapunaspektritekniikalla
pystytään löytämään tiettyjä nestemäisiä räjähdysaineiden komponentteja lasi- ja muovipullojen
sisältä.
Kemian, tilastotieteen ja lineaarialgebran perusteiden tunteminen helpottavat
kovasti kurssin suorittamista.
AUTO-kursseihin kuuluu pääsääntöisesti kaksi osaa / As a rule, there are two parts to pass an AUTO course:
Laskuharjoituksissa ratkaistaan erilaisia ennakolta annettuja tehtäviä, jotka liittyvät luennoilla käsiteltyihin asioihin. Nimestään huolimatta laskuharjoitukset voivat sisältää muunkinlaisia tehtäviä, mutta useimmat tehtävät ovat yksinkertaisia lasku-, suunnittelu- ja ohjelmointitehtäviä.
Laskuharjoituksia kannattaa tehdä, koska tenttikysymykset ovat usein hyvin laskuharjoitusten kaltaisia. Laskuharjoitusten tekemisestä annetaan myös lisäpisteitä välikoesuoritukseen. Ahkeralla laskuharjoitusten teolla voi helposti nostaa välikokeiden perusteella saatavaa arvosanaa.
Paperikopioita jaetaan luennoilla.
