Graduate School Scholarships for New Doctoral Students
Sholarship for the academic year 2021-2022.
The Graduate School of The University of Vaasa invites applications for one (1) scholarship (24 000 € ) for full-time doctoral student enrolled at the University of Vaasa for writing a doctoral thesis.
The scholarship is inteded for doctoral student who has received his/her study right in the spring 2021 intake. The scholarship is applied at the same time as the study right to Doctoral Programmes, in Studyinfo.fi. The application form has a question "Do you apply for the Vaasa University Graduate School´s scholarship for the academix year 2021-22". By answering "Yes" your application will also be included in the scholarship selection process.
Application period is 1.4-30.4.2021.
Scholarship recipient have to be registered as attending doctoral student at the University of Vaasa for the academic year 2021-22. Doctoral Programmes of the University of Vaasa are Business Studies, Technical Sciences and Social Sciences.
Scholarship is paid in 12 monthly installments during the academic year 1.8.2021–31.7.2022. Scholarship recipient is not entitled to have any other paid work during the scholarship period. However, scholarship recipient can with permission from the Head of the Academic Unit, use a maximum of 20 % of the working time for teaching or other activities.
The scholarship recipient has to participate actively in the work of his/her research group e.g. presenting his/her own research work. Doctoral students are expected to graduate within four years. Scholarship recipient is obliged to report to the Graduate School on the progress of the research work.
Scholarship recipient is obliged to apply for statutory pension insurance for the scholarship period from Mela (The Farmers' Social Insurance Institution).

Main selection criteria are:
- Quality of the admission papers
- study merits of the previous degrees
- research plan
- personal study plan
- motivation letter
- It is considered beneficial if the topic fits with the University´s strategic research area of corporate responsibility and contributes to the research of the research platforms DigitalEconomy, VEBIC and Innolab: www.uwasa.fi/en/about/organisation/tutkimusalustat/
