University increases teaching on campus starting from 1 February

Polkupyörällä kampuksella
The University of Vaasa increases teaching on campus starting from 1 February 2022. Our premise is that the members of the university community can work and study safely. The teacher of the course will tell you how the course will be implemented.

The use of a face mask is required when studying on campus. Please, do not come to the campus if you are feeling ill!

Starting from 1 February, the university operates as follows:

Teaching arrangements

  • On-campus teaching can be increased from 1 February onwards if it is appropriate and possible considering the implementation of teaching. Lectures for large groups are still organised remotely, but more lectures for smaller groups and small-group work will be on campus in accordance with  the previous plan for this spring. Teaching can also be arranged in a hybrid mode (some students are on campus and some participate remotely). Teachers will inform of any changes on Moodle or Peppi. Vaasa University of Applied Sciences (VAMK) makes the decisions regarding the cooperation courses they provide.

  • There are no restrictions on the number of persons attending a contact class.

Sports services

  • The gym shifts at WSC as well as Padel X hall, agility, Tennis Center Vaasa and Vaasa Swimming Hall are open to those who have purchased the sports sticker. For more information, please check the websites of the service providers and Sports Services.
  • Indoor sports organised by university Sports Services (floorball, futsal, basketball, table tennis and ultimate frisbee) will continue when the City of Vaasa opens closed sports facilities. At the moment, the facilities are closed until 6 February.

Tritonia Academic Library

From 1 February onwards, the library will be open almost normally.

  • The library is open to customers. At the beginning of February, customer services are available mostly remotely (there is a call button for short-term service if necessary). Service will be gradually increased as needed.
  • Training and guidance are mainly remote. Local activities are also possible if necessary.
  • Group-study rooms and reading rooms will be open for normal use.

Further information on the Tritonia website.

Restaurants

The opening hours of the campus restaurants are available on the Juvenes website.

Events

  • A maximum of 10 people may participate in public events, such as defences of doctoral dissertations, held indoors at the university until 31 January. After this date, the maximum number of people attending events will be determined by the new regulations issued by the regional state administrative agency.
  • A COVID-19 passport is required of all visitors and outside participants over the age of 16 who are attending public events held indoors at the university, such as defences of doctoral dissertations. This does not apply to our own staff or students.

In its operations, the university follows the national guidelines, the recommendations of the Wellbeing Services County of Ostrobothnia, and the regulations of the Regional State Administrative Agency of Western Finland. The crisis management team of the university outlines its measures based on the Government's decision-in-principle and other authorities' assessments of the situation.

Up-to-date and updating information is published on the university coronavirus web page for students.

Also, see the guidelines on the COVID-19 web page of the Wellbeing Services County of Ostrobothnia for important information on, for example, COVID-19 vaccinations and the location of coronavirus testing.

See you on campus!
