This is a forum for those who are interested in principles and methods of terminological research and work. Terminology work is practiced in many companies and organisations, terminology centres and standardizing organisations etc. Translators, subject specialists, terminologists, librarians, LSP teachers, information specialists and many others are involved with searching, using and collecting terminologies.
There are many projects and research groups as well as individual researchers doing research in the theory and methods of terminology science as well as developing tools for terminology work. Specialist groups work on the terminology of their own field, companies publish terminologies connected with their products etc. Terminology Science and terminology work is taught at many universities and other institutions around the world. There are associations and organisations to promote terminological cooperation over different kind of boundaries.
The problem often is how to get information about others doing the same thing. This is why this site was established in 1994: to give information on terminological activities so that you could find others to cooperate with, to find existing glossaries from different fields scattered around the Web, to get information about terminological products, to find describtions about courses in order to structure your own, to find information about the most central literature from the field terminological studies etc. etc.
