Finnish Artificial Intelligence Conference

The Finnish Artificial Intelligence Society will hold its 7th Biannual
Con-ference on Artificial Intelligence - STeP-96 - on 20-23 August 1996 in
Vaasa, the sunniest city of Finland. 

Soft computing, i.e. genetic algorithms, neural networks and fuzzy
computing as well as intelligent hypermedia and web applications in
business and industry are special themes this year.  Papers on these and
other topics are most welcome.

STeP-96 program will consist of tutorials, symposia, workshops, software
presentations and exhibitions for the participants and a series of lectures
for the general public. Timetable: Title and abstract by 29 March,
Notification of Acceptance by 29 April, Final Paper by 10 June.

In parallel with the STeP-96 topic sessions the 2nd Nordic Workshop on
Genetic Algorithms and Their Applications and a Symposium on Neural
Networks are scheduled. Please, observe the separate calls for papers and
deadlines. The languages of the conference are Finnish and English.

Nordic Workshop on Genetic Algorithms 

The 2nd Nordic Meeting on Genetic Algorithms and their applications will be
held on Aug. 21-23. The topics will include: Popular lectures, Genetic
algorithm and programming tutorial, Industry and GA workshop, invited
lectures and contributed papers. Deadlines: Title and abstract by 29 Feb.,
Notification of acceptance by 1 April, Final paper by 1 May 1966.

Symposium on Artificial Neural Networks

A Symposium on Artificial Neural Networks and their applications will be
held on Aug. 22. The topics will include: Invited lecture, Self-organizing
maps, NN algorithms, fuzzy neural systems, industrial applications,
con-tributed papers. Deadlines: Title and abstract by 29 March,
Notification by 29 April, Final paper by 1 June 1996.

Submission of Papers

The papers will be published in the Conference series of FAIS and will be 
available at the conference. Send the title, abstract and final paper (6-10
pages) in three (3) copies observing the deadlines to:
