A student at the University of Vaasa can study multilingualism as a brief subsidiary subject (20 credits) or as a long subsidiary subject (40 credits). The studies are mostly in Swedish and the instruction is provided by the researchers at the Immersion Centre.
Education of immersion teachers is provided in cooperation with the Department of Scandinavian Languages, University of Vaasa, and the Teacher Education Unit of Kajaani, University of Oulu. In immersion education Swedish is included as a subsidiary subject, which in its turn contains studies in Swedish and multilingualism.
Teachers who wish to receive further education in multilingualism can join further-education courses of different scope at the Levón Institute. The researchers at the Immersion Centre plan the contents of the courses together with the Levón-Institute employees responsible for the project. The researchers and the consultants serve as lecturers during the courses.
